They will provide us with a modern capability to provide an exceptional machining service. They are an investment in our future.” With its origins proudly established in Mosgiel, Nick says the PWE team still enjoys supporting the local customers, catering for the man who needs his trailer repaired, but the bulk of the work is the design, fabrication and installation of large-scale projects. “A few years ago we did the mechanical design and build for Alliance’s brand new venison processing plant in Lorneville. “What we have become exceptionally good at is our bulk material handling systems, particularly for Ravensdown and the fertiliser industry. For the last decade, Ravensdown has been a key client, producing large scale bulk material handling equipment like automated conveyors and hoppers. “We supplied all new equipment for a new facility in New Plymouth for Ravensdown, which was $33 million. “The most recent large-scale project we did was their gib board processing plant that Fletchers are building in Tauranga. We provided all the bulk material handling conveyors for that project, all built here and shipped to Tauranga.” As well as the design, fabrication and installation of equipment for brand new builds, the team at PWE is also called on for upgrades, retro fitting new equipment into older plants, nationwide. “A customer might have a fifty year old building with a 100-metre conveyor with access systems in the ceiling. “We can model the entire building, design and build brand new automated conveyor and access ways, install and paint it, bring the building up to structural code, earthquake proof it, and give it another fifty-year lifecycle.
