Southland’s leading transportable homes business Exceed Homes is this year celebrating 20 years in business. Exceed Homes specialises in building high quality, prefabricated, transportable homes at its yard on Gloucester Street, Invercargill, for transportation all around the South Island. Starting out in 2003, Exceed Homes initially built small town houses in Invercargill until an opportunity arose to start building transportable homes predominately for farm workers’ accommodation. The company soon became well known for its strengths, being able to quickly build and deliver multiple warm, dry, and comfortable homes. Over time, Exceed Homes has continued to develop superior building and delivery practices and is now recognised as an ideal solution for first home buyers, holiday accommodation, and investment properties. “We’ve built our reputation on quality homes at affordable prices,” says owner Sarah Bohm. “One of our points of difference is our partnership with Westpac which is the only bank to lend against transportable homes, with its Prebuilt Home Loan. This partnership has allowed us to deliver transportable homes, including homes for young families, that never would have happened if it wasn’t for Westpac.” At Exceed Homes, multiple transportable homes are constructed at once to deliver South Island-wide. With the yard also home to Southland building relocation specialist Transit Homes, Sarah says Exceed Homes is a one-stop-shop, and she and her husband and business partner Jade McNamara are proud to be able to manage the entire process for their clients. “Our yard is the place people can go to get sorted without having to organise and manage all the sub-trades that are involved in the building and transportation process. Our clients don’t need to worry about a thing, and they can be as involved in the process as they’d like to be.” Exceed Homes has an extensive range of pre-designed plans which can be modified to suit individual needs, and can also create one-off builds for those wanting something a bit more unique. Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) have now been used by Exceed Homes, and Sarah says new pre-designed plans catering specifically for SIPs builds will join the range soon. Exceed Homes has been so busy that it is now running with a waiting list for the first time in 20 years. “We haven’t yet seen the market slow down with the high interest rates, and we’re still really busy. We are the affordable option and that’s a great place to be in the market right now.” Exceed Homes has already worked its way out of the Global Financial Crisis 15 years ago and Sarah and Jade are confident they can do the same through any emerging downturn in the construction market. “If it happens we’ll get through it – we’re a bit older now and a bit wiser as well!” Sarah and Jade put Exceed Homes’ 20 years of successful operation down to their clients and their amazing team of staff, whose attention to quality and clients ensures Exceed Homes projects are always a smooth operation.
