52 | DEVELOPMENT Consortium Construction: Otautahi Housing Project T T Kim Newth Community housing nearing completion In total, 65 homes are being delivered over two construction stages. T T to page 54 Three new communities will soon be putting down roots in Somerfield, home to Ōtautahi Community Housing Trust’s (ŌCHT) latest development – Three Lanes in Lyttelton Street. Replacing what used to be the site of an old social housing complex – Glue Place, decommissioned in 2023 – are three new lanes: Te Uru Kahikatea Lane, Te Koroī Lane and Te Māpara Lane, where blocks of new, two-storey townhouses are fast nearing completion. The location is ideal for families, next to Pioneer Recreation and Sport Centre and close to parks, schools, and early childcare/education providers. In total, 65 homes are being delivered over two construction stages. Arranged in 11 semi-detached terrace blocks, the homes have been designed to suit a mix of individuals, couples and families, and all are warm, modern dwellings. Poised for handover in the first release are eight one-bedroom homes, eight two-bedroom homes, five three-bedroom homes, and two four-bedroom homes. Consortium Construction has been making excellent progress since starting work on-site last December. The first homes are set to be completed this coming spring. “There are three handover phases coming up, with only a few weeks between each one, so we expect the whole complex to be completed by December,” says Watene Pikia, construction manager – commercial/director, Consortium Construction. 2A South Belt, Rangiora (03) 313 4862 www.rangioraitm.co.nz E: sean@tier1interiors.co.nz P: 021 749 020 www.tier1interiors.co.nz
