T T from page 52 DEVELOPMENT Consortium Construction: Otautahi Housing Project As a registered community housing provider, ŌCHT provides housing to people most in need. The Three Lanes development includes social homes as well as progressive home- ownership options through ŌCHT’s Secure Home programme, aimed at getting low-to-medium-income working families into a modern home. Designed by PXA Architects, homes at Three Lanes incorporate superior materials, and offer strong thermal performance for healthy, sustainable living. The landscaped grounds will support family living and help to foster community connection in this new neighbourhood. The development also includes off-street parking. Consortium Construction is proud to be building this latest community housing development for ŌCHT, the South Island’s biggest non-government social and affordable housing provider. The trust was recently named a Homestar Champion at the NZ Green Building Council Housing Summit, acknowledging its leadership in sustainable residential development. As NZGBC observes, champions like ŌCHT are not just building homes, but also building a better future for Aotearoa. “We’re on that journey with them too,” says Watene. “They’re committed to raising the bar for community housing, and leading the way towards a more sustainable future – it’s very much part of their DNA.” In May, Consortium Construction won a gold award for another social housing project with ŌCHT in Willard Street. Comprising 35 warm, comfortable homes, this project marked the trust’s first foray into three-level social housing, and their first use of locally manufactured Formance Structural Insulated Panels. Thanks to early collaboration and careful planning, the panels were delivered efficiently on-site. This energy-efficient development, which achieved a Homestar 7 rating, was hailed for setting a new benchmark for sustainable, prefabricated social housing. “We are once again using Structural Insulated Panels at Three Lanes, and will also be carrying those through to some future developments that are in design. These panels deliver better airtightness and a better standard of insulation,” Watene says. “Mechanical heat recovery and ventilation systems will further add to energy efficiency at Three Lanes. This development is also using solar panels – another first for ŌCHT.” T T Building communities - page 54 Director Ryan Williams | Ph: 022 1240 024 | E: nextlevelinteriors@hotmail.com • ALL ASPECTS OF INTERIOR GIB FIXING • RESIDENTIAL • COMMERCIAL • LIGHT COMMERCIAL • SKIMMING (LEVEL5) • ALL ASPECTS OF INTERIOR PLASTERING (LEVEL 4) • CRACK REPAIR • CORNICE • GIB COVE • STIPPLE Hera Certified Welding Supervisor AS 2214 As a locally owned and operated company since 2020, West Melton Engineering offers comprehensive structural engineering services.
