Through direct employment, family connections, and with its subcontractor/ supplier arrangements the company plays a significant role in the local Central Otago communities. “Our strategy is ‘local first’ and we have built enduring and mutually beneficial relationships with our local subcontractors and suppliers,” says Central Otago Regional Manager Jared Johnston. “Anecdotally, we reach 10% of the local community through the delivery of project works in the region.” Those valued relationships support a sustainable construction industry locally, help reduce unemployment and increase skills development across the region. “We are loyal to our sub-contractors, we know each other’s expertise, and together we help create and develop the communities we call home. Ranging from one man companies right through to large businesses with hundreds of employees, subcontractors form an integral part of the Fulton Hogan team.
