Having started with a core team of four people, Bruce and partner Jax - who leads the company’s administration team - now employ a staff of 18 and have a sister company spe - cialising in earthworks. “We offer a fully comprehensive service,” says Bruce. “It means we can do all the work involved with forming a site and doing foun - dations through to finishing the landscaping. We are well-equipped to tackle larger projects and generally have capacity to work to tighter timeframes if that is a requirement.” Bruce Ensor Builders has made a real contribution in Kaikōura’s commercial con - struction sector, with recent projects including renovating a local op shop building and a scout hall, plus strengthening and restoring the historic Pier Hotel. “The Pier Hotel project was completed in the off-season last year. Of course, with any historic building like that there are a lot of unknowns and additional requirements to be met, but we had the manpower and expertise to get the job done and on time.” In the residential market, Bruce Ensor Builders has a reputation for attention to detail with the right skillset needed for quality architectural homes. Last September, Bruce Ensor Builders completed a high spec two-storey home on a commanding hill-top site boasting unimpeded alpine to sea views. The architectural home, located in a prestig - ious coastal development called Mangamaunu Farm Park, features a warm and contempo - rary open plan design with high ceilings and a sloping cathedral roof. It is finished beautifully with plywood interior linings, polished con - crete floors, cedar and a glazing plan designed for both sun and outlook. A notable interior feature material used was swamp kauri, sourced by the owner and used for stair treads and as tongue and groove flooring in the main mezzanine bedroom, which has a well-appointed ensuite. 0800BESTWINDOWS info@fairviewconcepts.co.nz www.fairviewconcepts
