So with the Dunedin population surging towards 135,000, TGC Homes launched in 2020 with their first two new properties, both sold early the following year. This was followed up by a 10-lot townhouse development on Playfair Street, Caversham, that was completed in October last year and entirely pre-sold off the plans. Then came their Corner Thorn seven-lot townhouse project on the corner of Thorn and David Streets, already pre-sold and due from completion in June this year. TGC is following this with the 36-home Grand Vesta venture on David Street, named after the old New Zealand Wax Vesta match company that used to be on the 4500m2 site. TGC bought the site in 2019 and launched a two-stage development, the first involving the demolition of two of the four commercial buildings on the site and replacing them with 12 two-storey townhouses, since all sold. Stage Two, starting August, involves demolishing the other two buildings and replacing them with 24 town-houses ranging in price from $525,000 to $825,000 each, already 50% sold. Another development of eight to 12 townhouses in the suburb of Mornington will hit the market later this year. The company’s success is the result of a hands-own management style, Charles says. “We operate as the sole contractor, engaging sub-contractors directly and managing the whole operation down to the last detail.” QUALITY COBBLESTONING & ASPHALT SERVICES IN DUNEDIN 027 434 1505 mark@qccontracting.nz qualitycobblestoningandasphalt.co.nz Proud to be associated with TGC Homes I LESTONING & LT SERVICES IN DUNEDIN • ASPHALT & COBBLESTONING • EXCAVATION & EARTHMOVING • RETAININGWALLS & LANDSCAPING • DEMOLITION & SITE WORKS OTAGO BRICK & BLOCK LAYING ALLAN 027 696 7792 | KURT 021 702 952 Qualified and Registered Brick and Block layers, from New Homes to Patch-ups
