Gardner West Coast team. “It shows that we have integrity and that we’re doing a good job for people here – you’re only as good as your last build.” MADE HERE. BY US. FOR YOU. Gardner brand, is proving a winning formula for the G.J. Gardner Homes West Coast team. G.J. Gardner is out in front when it comes to the number of new homes built for New Zealanders, with the much-loved brand celebrating its 20,000th family home built for Kiwis last year. While the West Coast franchise is the smallest in the G.J. Gardner group, it has the best market share and is proudly covering the biggest geographical area of them all, spanning the Westland, Grey and Buller districts. It has offices in both Greymouth and Westport. The last financial year was a bumper one indeed for the West Coast team, which doubled its usual number of new homes built to reach a total of 60. It is a remarkable result, particularly given Covid and its associated disruptions. “It shows that we have integrity and that we’re doing a good job for people here – you’re only as good as your last build,” remarks Mathew Colville, who first opened the doors on G.J. Gardner Homes West Coast in February 2013. “We find our clients often recommend us to their friends and family and we get a lot of repeat customers too.” In turn, Mat and the team sponsor and support many local sports teams and school charity events as part of their ethos of giving back to the community and helping it to further grow and prosper. Local knowledge counts when the area being covered is so large. Mat is a born and bred Coaster with many years’ local building experience who has strong partnerships with local builders, contractors and suppliers. His team’s main focus is on clients’ satisfaction from initial consultation through to project completion. Their clients are a mix of locals and people from out of town, including Coasters returning home for retirement. “We love working with people on their new home ideas and building their dream – the most rewarding part of every project is when we get to hand over the keys at the end,” says Joanne Sinnott, Office and Sales Manager for G.J. Gardner Homes West Coast who has herself lived on the Coast all her life. “We build smaller 70sqm homes through to 400sqm – we can build for every budget.” G.J. Gardner Homes West Coast works in partnership with well-established Greymouth firm Colville & Hofman Builders. That company employs 19 local builders and two plumbers, with seven apprentices also on the current team. Materials needed for every build are ordered well in advance. With 40-45 new homes under construction, this year is already going very well for GJ Gardner Homes West Coast. Two new showhomes are underway: the first is in Greymouth’s High St and has been designed as a modestly sized, three-bedroom home; the second, at Paroa Estate, a new subdivision south of Greymouth, will be a substantial 200sqm family home. Both are due to be completed in the second half of 2022. Paroa Estate is fast growing. G.J. Gardner Homes West Coast has sold 10 new homes into the subdivision to date, with construction work in full swing there this year.
