When Paul and Jody re ect on the Reefton based business they bought a little over twelve months ago, they agree it is hard to de ne it in just a few words, given its scale and the diversity of its projects, machinery and capability. Since buying Reefton Crane and Construction through their parent company Multi-Scape Ltd last year, adding (2021) to the name to signify a brand new beginning, the couple have steadily grown and expanded the company’s capability, purchasing new machinery and upskilling their team. “I like to liaise with my clients face-to-face and develop a good relationship based on trust,” says Paul. “But it’s what you produce that people see. It’s about the quality of what we do and we strive to do things right the rst time — that’s our reputation.” Operating from their Gannons Road base in Reefton, complete with a well-equipped workshop that includes steel lathe, drilling and milling machinery, Paul and Jody have assembled a diverse array of machinery and vehicles to tackle the diversity of projects and complemented with multi-skilled team. Included in Reefton Crane and Construction’s line up of highly specialised machines are four mobile cranes for hire to suit the smallest to biggest project. From a 125-tonne maximum lift capacity to 25-tonne maximum lift capacity each crane hire includes a quali ed and highly skilled operator. “The larger cranes are good site cranes, whereas the 25-tonne crane is a lift and carry machine,” says Paul. “Our Pal nger 5002 Hi-Ab has a maximum lift of 12 tonne in close and is great for smaller lifts, containers and small building transportations. We have a wide range of excavators from 1.7 tonnes up to 30 tonnes and a couple of tip trucks. Our heavy haulage Kenworth truck is a very high-spec unit. We also have a hi-tech house removal trailer with remote self-steering, plus a number of house jacks running o a mobile hydraulic power pack making the relocation of a building very e cient. We also have a number of transport and general purpose trailers, and can supply Class 1 and 2 pilots and pilot vehicles.” A BSP piling hammer with nitrous for piling 310mm I beams is used for commercial foundations and structures, retaining walls, along with minor and major bridges. “Our projects include civil construction work including roading and track work. We can o er a full range of earthworks services through our sister company Multi-Scape Ltd. We’re frequently selected to construct the foundations for cellular towers, which is quite specialised and often includes site excavation, laying the foundations and erecting the towers.” Re ecting the diversity of Reefton Crane and Constructions capability, its customers are equally diverse ranging from the home owners wanting a container relocated to the delivery of gravel through to large businesses including Kiwirail, Electronet, BT Mining, Birch elds and various engineering and building rms. “We operate throughout the West Coast and Canterbury, into the Tasman and Blenheim areas and way down to Glenorchy,” says Jody. “But house transporting can take us to the bottom of the South Island and into the North Island.” Reefton Crane and Construction (2021) Your dedicated experts on the West Coast, Canterbury and Marlborough for house removals, crane and hi-ab hire, cartage services and construction including piling and foundations.
