82 | DEVELOPMENT Next Level Developments: Strowan Fields Spacious rural living at Strowan Fields Richard Loader to page 84 For those searching for a sense of spacious rural living, Mid-Canterbury’s Strowan Fields’ residential development delivers the perfect response. Replete with large wetland reserve area, central park with playground and basketball court, Strowan Fields sits on Ashburton’s doorstep and offers a wide range of residential sections along with large rural residential lifestyle blocks. Behind Strowan Fields is Next Level Developments in partnership with local Ashburton resident Paul Cunneen. Led by director Shane Kennedy, Next Level Developments has previously delivered residential developments in Lincoln that have similarities to his vision for Strowan Fields, with rural residential sections creating a rural impression. Shane says the driver for Strowan Fields was the significant demand for quality residential sections in outlying areas like Ashburton. “The land had previously been farmland but its proximity to Ashburton means it is within walking distance to the town centre, and is very close to schools. “The interesting thing when I started working on this project was the development that was going on in Ashburton’s main centre, the new building that was going on and infrastructure that was being put in. “For people looking to relocate here the town has a lovely feel to it with a lot of energy.” Strowan Fields embraces approximately 292 residential sections ranging from 400sqm to 800sqm, and a further 47 rural residential sections with an average size of 4000sqm that back onto the residential sections. There is also an 11-hectare block that has been put under contract by a retirement village. “The retirement village will become a bit of a feature of the area and the product provided by the group we’re talking to has in general operated in the North Island. “It will be more of a rural type retirement village and complements the rest of Strowan Fields. I think it will fit really well with what we’re doing. So we have a bit of everything that should suit most people.” Development of Strowan Fields is being undertaken in several stages, including eight stages of residential sections, and up to four stages of rural residential sections. Earthworks for the first two residential stages encompassing 67 sections is currently underway, with Stage 3 and 4 scheduled to commence in August and the rest rolling over from there.
