When it comes to construction methodologies, materials, and the state of the market, Ken Anderson Building can rise to every challenge it is faced with, and provide an end to end service for both residential and commercial clients throughout the region. Ken Anderson Building has been building award-winning homes and buildings since 1985. Ken comes from a long line of building knowledge, with timber and building a large part of the Anderson family for three generations. Ken’s grandfather spent his early career building bridges and renovating homes before establishing saw-milling firm F.L. Anderson in Murchison in the 1940s. Ken’s father spent his entire working life in the sawmill, and his involvement created a natural interest in timber in Ken. Ken started his building apprenticeship on leaving school and thrived, then went out on his own by setting up Ken Anderson Building. He immediately joined the Registered Master Builders Association and became a member of the executive committee about 10 years later. In 2012 he was appointed president of the Marlborough Registered Master Builders and in 2019 was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition for his outstanding support and contribution to the Marlborough Branch of the Registered Master Builders Association. Ken Anderson Building comprises an experienced team of qualified builders who deliver on both service and workmanship to make clients’ build projects rewarding and positive experiences. “We pride ourselves on a project that is run well, of the highest standard, within budget that ensures a satisfied customer,” Ken says. “It is our commitment to quality that makes this happen. With quality materials and some of the best sub-trade personnel, we are able to deliver overall satisfaction.” Ken says the construction market in Marlborough is currently strong, with lots of enquiries. While the uncertain supply chain is somewhat tempering demand, the economy in Marlborough is ticking over well with the wine industry, and has been helped even more by a great grape growing season. Ken Anderson Building is active in both residential and commercial construction, with many repeat clients using the firm for all of their building requirements. “It is our commitment to quality that makes this happen. With quality materials and some of the best sub-trade personnel, we are able to deliver overall satisfaction.” For the past 10 years, Ken Anderson Building has completed an increasing number of alterations, with elaborate high-end alterations a favourite for Ken and the team. “We will do anything and we do do everything,” Ken says. “We are a company which starts at the ground and takes the project right through to completion, with stress-free and professional project management and construction. “The end to end service is key for us, and key also for our commercial clients who love to deal with one firm. “We are hands on and we can organise all of the sub trades which allows the flow of work to continue all the way through.” Ken Anderson Building is currently working on a high-end alteration to a 1980s-built home at Waikawa Bay in Picton. On a rare and fabulous site with spectacular views across Waikawa Bay, the existing home really wasn’t maximising the views. Ken Anderson Building is there to fix it, demolishing the home down to its foundations, and building three storeys with glass all across the front of the home. “It’s challenging but very rewarding,” Ken says. “Our team of guys are out there for a challenge, and that’s the advantage of being a long-established construction firm. All of our projects are challenging, and we’re never building the same thing twice.”
