Construct It Ltd REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT Construct It Ltd, a specialist in concrete commercial buildings based in Christchurch, has proudly unveiled their inaugural development within the new stage of Rolleston’s iPort Business Park. This milestone marks the completion of a 690sqm concrete tilt slab warehouse plus 150sqm office, providing a total of 840sqm of commercial space for light to medium industry. Now available for sale or lease, this newly constructed warehouse represents Construct It Ltd’s first venture into Rolleston, showcasing their expertise in crafting concrete commercial structures for a diverse array of industries. With Mike Handley, one of the owners, experience spanning over 25 years in the commercial concrete construction landscape, Construct It Ltd has solidified its reputation for delivering top tier, fully consented, turnkey warehouse and office solutions. Situated at 16 Factory Drive within the iPort Business Park, their inaugural warehouse boasts impressive dimensions, featuring a six-metre-high exterior rising to an eight-metre apex at its centre. Equipped with spacious manoeuvring areas for vehicles and a roller door capable of accommodating container trucks, the facility embodies functionality and efficiency. A joint venture between Mike, a Licensed Building Practitioner and business director Jim Burnard, Construct It stands as a paragon of excellence in the industry. Jim reflects on the strategic significance of their expansion into Rolleston, emphasising the region’s status as a burgeoning hub for growth. “We see Rolleston as the growth area going forward. We’ve been wanting to get building within Rolleston for some time.” Construct It Ltd have three more builds planned within Rolleston “We’re underway with a large build for a client, consisting of four adjoining warehouses and we have three more builds in the next 12 months, very near the planned retail centre, The Station.” The Station, an 18-hectare development spearheaded by Rolleston Industrial Holdings, promises to be 1.5 times the size of the renowned Tower Junction in scale and scope. The $500 million iPort Business Park, was constructed by Carter Group for the Lyttelton Port Company, providing 122 hectares of premium industrial-zoned land. Jim underscores the growing scarcity of commercial land within city limits, stressing the urgent need for local authorities to unlock additional parcels for development. In response to the land shortage, Construct It Ltd has proactively acquired land where feasible, enabling them to offer clients land parcels of varying sizes to suit their needs. Construct It uses an innovative building system, which facilitates independent floor replacement and wall straightening, enhances resilience and expediting post-disaster repairs. Their concrete construction system differs from precast panels in that it can be poured in situ allowing them to make larger concrete panels that don’t require transportation to site. “They can also be stacked on top of each other, with a bond breaker in between,” says Jim. “From there they are craned into place.” Collaborating with Eliot Sinclair engineers for building and fire compliances, as well as trusted subcontractors for structural steel works, roofing, plumbing, drainage, and electrical installations, Construct It Ltd remains committed to delivering excellence and client satisfaction in every aspect of their projects.
