Cohesive Construction - Cromwell: Redpaths facility REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT A turnkey project by the team at Cohesive Construction Central Otago, Redpaths’s stunning new warehouse and showroom building located on Cromwell’s new Dunn Road commercial subdivision was completed in March of this year. The building which has a ground footprint of 435sqm includes warehouse, showroom, office/toilets/smoko rooms, and an upper level two-bedroom apartment. James Dodd, Cohesive Construction Cromwell’s Managing Director, says the electrical wholesaler already had a very good vision about what they wanted in a design, but availed themselves of the expertise provided by Cohesive Design in Christchurch for final concepts and plans. “On this occasion, the main structure of the building was a combination of hot and cold rolled steel portals, with concrete tilt panel walls along the boundaries. “The building included a large, cantilevered lean-to out the side for covered loading and unloading. Redpaths also wanted some schist stonework on the ground floor and at the front of the building around the office area to help it blend in with the region’s natural landscape. Cedar was used around the apartment on the upper level. The remainder of the building was concrete tilt panel and steel T-Rib cladding.” Cohesive Construction’s scope of works included design and build along with internal fit-out of wall linings and painting, plumbing and fittings, floor coverings, and a suspended ceiling over the showroom. “The turn-key scope required us to complete the tarseal driveway, parking, and other landscaping. The project went very smoothy, with no major challenges. We had the ability to supply and build a high-quality turnkey product from design and initial groundworks, right through to completion.” Cohesive Construction’s journey began in 2010, when the Lynch family saw a need for quality steel framed sheds in the Canterbury region, which led to the purchase of the South Island franchise of Wide Span Sheds.
