Bird Built did a lot of medium density multi-units, and we will continue to offer that option as well.” Cameron and Abby had owned and operated Christchurch’s Bird Built Ltd since 2015, and were experienced in new home builds including townhouses and architectural homes. With a solid reputation for delivering the highest quality workmanship, professionalism and customer service, the fit with Fowler Homes was perfect. “We continue to own Bird Built which is now the contract builder for Fowler Homes Christchurch North, and we operate from Christchurch city right through to Kaikoura. “Our core client sector is the design and build residential market from mid-range to high-end architectural homes. Bird Built did a lot of medium density multi-units, and we will continue to offer that option as well.” While Cameron and Abby offer the clients a range of off-the-shelf plans through Fowler Homes, Abby makes the point that they are really intended as thought starters to get the creative design juices flowing. “Typically, a client will come to us with a section, and we will design a home specifically for that section. “Throughout the whole process the client is only working with Cam and me; there is no sales team that the client gets passed on to. My role is client liaison, while Cam is scheduler, QS and licensed builder, and there’s very strong communication with the client throughout the process. “We discuss budget right at the outset, listen to what the clients’ needs and lifestyle are, how they will be living in the home, and then tailor the design to the client. “Once concepts are drawn up, we have trusted architects that do our work in collaboration with us and the client. Sometimes a client will bring us existing plans and we can quote off those for a fixed price contract.” Abby says that while she and Cameron have had to build a client portfolio from the ground up, the market and feedback has been very positive, with a regular stream of enquiries coming through the door. “We are part of that group home housing scene, but Fowler Homes Christchurch North is just Cameron and me. We’re the face of the business and the ones who deal with the clients’ build. “We’re also in control of Bird Built, who build the home. We operate on old school values. Our reputation is really important to us and we do a lot to ensure that is protected. “You can only do that by delivering a quality job for the client. We do what we say we’re going to do, and we take pride in the appearance of our sites.
