At the heart of Glory Paint and Panel’s opAdrian Orchard, the Managing Director of Tractor Repairs and Spares (TRS) has been quoted as saying, ‘it is not about the machine breakdown, it is about how fast we can fix it.’” That focus on delivering timely, first-class service to its customers over a 28-year period has grown TRS from humble beginnings to now include over seventy staff, spread across five branches, and providing its customers with a comprehensive suite of sales and support services. The journey commenced in 1996 when Adrian, a fully qualified tractor technician, founded Tractor Repairs & Spares Ltd as a home-based business, working out of a service vehicle, with his wife Pam doing the bookwork from home. In 1997, based upon Adrian’s growing reputation for providing quality workmanship and delivering on time, TRS was offered the Massey Ferguson agency, and that was later followed by the agency for Fendt, another brand in the AGCO stable. Today, TRS services the Marlborough, Tasman/Nelson and Hawke’s Bay regions, with its core customer sectors including agriculture, horticulture, viticulture and lifestyle, depending upon the regional activities. “Our head office is in Renwick, with other branches in Seddon, Richmond and Hastings,” says Alisha Taylor, TRS’s Marketing Managerations is a state-of-the-art spray booth that doubles as an oven which can be heated to around 80oC, allowing for the quick drying of the environmentally friendly waterborne paint that the company uses. “The painted vehicles can dry in as little as half an hour,” he says, contrasting this with the traditional 12 to 16 hours required for air drying. “This technology not only enhances the efficiency of the painting process, greatly speeding up the return of the vehicle to the customer, but also supports the company’s commitment to using products that are less harmful to the environment.” The company’s workshop is equipped with the latest in automotive repair technology, including a chassis-straightening machine, a Car-O-Liner spot welder and a computerised colour matching system. With a team of five skilled professionals, Glory Paint and Panel is prepared to handle any vehicle refurbishment challenge, from minor scratches to major crash damage. Despite being in operation for only just over a year, Glory Paint and Panel has experienced rapid growth, significantly exceeding Joey’s initial expectations. er. “There’s a plan underway to double the capacity at the Seddon branch over the next couple of years, to support our customers in the Awatere Valley. TRS has just opened a new branch in Blenheim, that is dedicated to Gregoire Harvesters, reflecting the region’s focus on viticulture.” Alisha adds that all dealerships are located in purpose-built premises, providing sales, service and repairs, with well stocked parts departments selling an extensive range of parts to support the products sold. “To support our customers during harvest the company indents over $500,000 worth of specialist parts each year to ensure we can meet all the needs of customers at this critical time.
