| 107 Burlington wins worthy recognition The Pavilion exemplifies the company’s design-led, future-focused approach to retirement living, incorporating hospitality, wellness and lifestyle in a way that redefines aged care environments. T T Anne Boswell LIFESTYLE Qestral Corporation Qestral Corporation has built more than just homes: it has built a reputation. And now, that reputation has been celebrated with a shortlisting in the 2025 Property Industry Awards for its stand-out development, Burlington Village in Christchurch, in the Oceania Retirement Living and Aged Care Property category. This recognition places Qestral among the top retirement village operators in New Zealand, applauded for their innovation, design excellence and contribution to quality of life for New Zealand retirees. The Property Industry Awards, now in their 35th year, are hosted by Property Council New Zealand and are the most distinguished property awards in the country. They celebrate the very best in design, development and investment, recognising standout projects across various sectors. In Qestral’s case, the Pavilion – the main building at Burlington – is at the heart of the nomination. The Pavilion exemplifies the company’s design-led, future-focused approach to retirement living, incorporating hospitality, wellness and lifestyle in a way that redefines aged care environments. The state-of-the-art building features 42 serviced apartments, a bar, restaurant, cinema, bakery, café, wellness centre, heated indoor pool and spa, gym, library, hair salon and medical centre. “There is a wide variety of apartment designs available in the Pavilion, offering different layouts and service packages to suit individual preferences,” Qestral Managing Director Simon O’Dowd says. “This reflects our commitment to providing flexible living options for a range of lifestyles.” The houses at Burlington are now in their final stages, including the Kensington Houses – a collection of modern two-storey homes, each equipped with lifts and offering sweeping views across the Burlington Lakes. Qestral operates a network of lifestyle villages across the country, including Alpine View and Banbury Park in Christchurch, Coastal View in Nelson, and Ashbury Heights in Whangārei. New projects are also in development, such as Broadwater in Hamilton. Each village is shaped by Qestral’s commitment to combining the best in design, healthcare, hospitality, wellness and technology. Their new generation retirement villages offer mostly stand-alone houses in a variety of two- or three-bedroom layouts, with private outdoor living spaces and single or double garages. Residents enjoy services such as “The Butler” – with meals delivered to the door five days a week, flexible cleaning services and weekly laundry, including the option to use the village’s linen. Qestral villages offer rest home and hospital-level care in state-of-the-art centres with advanced technology and modern facilities. Apartment-style care suites, private decks, and landscaped gardens are among the premium features. Most villages also include single-storey, stand-alone dementia care facilities – all designed to ensure comfort, dignity and peace of mind. Exciting developments are also underway at other Qestral locations. In Nelson, the main building at Coastal View, The Yacht Club, is set to open in June. At Banbury Park, a new pavilion building is also now under construction. Meanwhile, 2025 marked a major milestone with the opening of Ashbury Heights Lifestyle Village, Qestral’s first North Island village. With a firm eye on the future, Qestral continues to expand and innovate in the retirement living sector, setting new standards and enhancing the lives of retirees across New Zealand. 308 Trents Rd.
