Planned, designed and built by Attika, the two-storey office and warehouse bring key parts of the business together, including its division Alpine Buildings, which supplies kitset sheds for rural and lifestyle properties. “We were previously operating across a number of different locations, so having the divisions together in one place is a massive boost for staff morale,” says Attika General Manager Almanzo Boakes. “It allows for closer collaboration and greater efficiency by making better use of resources. We’ve also invested in technology that supports connectivity. At the same time, each division has room to focus on its own services, and there’s space for us to grow.” The new head office spans 4080sqm and includes a 1400sqm warehouse, a 1440qsm canopy and a full timber yard, supporting both day-to-day operations and project delivery. The ground floor is set up for client engagement, with two waiting areas off the main entrance, alongside offices, meeting rooms and boardrooms. An upmarket staff café is also located on this level. Upstairs functions as the main working hub, with open-plan offices, meeting rooms, executive offices, breakout spaces, a marketing and audio room, and a central coffee area. The layout allows the wider team to work in one place while still giving each part of the business room to operate independently. “Investing in this level of facility, with its own café and commercial kitchen, also positions us as an employer of choice in the region,” he says. “It gives us a corporate-level environment that makes it easier to attract and retain good people.” The building is already functioning as an effective base of operations. When staff are brought in from other parts of the country, there is space for them to work alongside the Timaru team. ‘THE BOYS IN THE BLUE VANS’ For any electrical job, no matter the size, you can rely on our certified professionals to handle it efficiently and with complete care and expertise 03 686 2422 60 GLENITI ROAD Wwww.morriswaddellelectrical.co.nz E admin@morriswaddell.co.nz P 03 686 2422 24HRS/7 DAYS PO Box 166, Timaru 7910 | Phone 03 684 8440 Proud to be associated with Aorangi Homes menzies.group@xtra.co.nz 0800 102 324 Almanzo says the shift is also about how projects are delivered. “Bringing design, planning and operational capability into one location allows earlier coordination across teams, reducing delays and giving clients clearer direction from the outset. It also enables faster decision- making, particularly on projects where timing, cost and buildability need to be worked through in parallel.” The result is a more streamlined approach from concept through to construction, with fewer handovers and greater visibility across each stage of a project. As well, the building serves a practical role for clients. “From a client perspective, this is a more applied space, with larger meeting rooms and materials on display. It showcases how we work, with features like exposed cross- laminated timber, feature stairs and polished concrete floors.
