Chris built homes under the brand before stepping into ownership, bringing practical experience and a clear understanding of its systems. That background shaped his decision to take on the franchise. “It was something I understood well, and I knew what it stood for – particularly around doing the right thing for clients and standing behind our work,” says Chris. The company delivers new homes across Central Otago, working with a mix of local clients and those relocating to the region, often managing projects from initial concept through to completion. Demand has been consistent during the past 18 months, reflecting both confidence in the market and the popularity of the area, with the wider Cromwell region being more laid back than Queenstown and Wanaka. “We’ve seen really good enquiry, and that’s remained steady,” Chris says. “People are still looking to build here, and that’s a positive sign.” The company offers fixed-price contracts and guaranteed completion dates, while well-structured systems and processes create accountability across every stage of a build, supported by close relationships with suppliers and contractors. “If we say we’ll finish by a certain date, that’s contractual. It keeps everyone aligned and focused on delivery,” Chris explains. The Central Otago franchise is well resourced to support that delivery with a nine-person team covering sales, project management, design, quantity surveying and administration, alongside established subcontractor relationships. “You need the right people and systems in place to deliver what you promise, and that’s something we prioritise.” The Signature Homes Central Otago show home at Shannon Farm will be a four- bedroom family home. “It’s a semi-rural lifestyle subdivision with good-sized sections, so people can build a substantial home and still feel like they’ve got space around them,” Chris says. The 277sqm home follows a pavilion-style layout, with a vaulted ceiling through the north pavilion, which contains the kitchen/ dining/living areas, plus a rumpus/media room, whereas the bedroom, bathroom and garage pavilion is in a separate wing with a parapet roof. This design works well for family living, separating living and bedroom zones in a clean, contemporary form. “It’s all quite contemporary and leans into the Central Otago style,” Chris says. “It’s a layout we know works well. The show home is expected to be completed and open for viewing by the end of this year, in time for the peak summer season.
