Final funding for the $3.7 million aquatic centre was secured in July 2020 when the Gov- ernment allocated $1 million from the Covid Recovery Fund, matching the Kaikōura District Council’s own commitment to this exciting project. Kaikōura has been without a community pool since the Lions Pool on the Esplanade was damaged in the November 2016 earth- quake. Eagerly anticipated, the new aquatic centre on the Scarborough St recreation reserve is due to be completed in April. It will include a 25m x 12m lap pool, a 6m x 10m multi-use learn to swim/hydrotherapy pool and a beach entry toddler pool as well as changing rooms and a picnic/barbecue area. The outdoor pools facility will be well connected to the wider community with bike paths and walkways. With CMT Group NZ leading construction on the ground, this important project is in very capable hands. The family-owned company has considera- ble capability across a breadth of civil and con- struction work, having been formed in April 2018 by the bringing together of three other established industry operators (Conpavers Blenheim, MC Construction & Total Tactliez). CMT foreman Dan Woods is overseeing the team onsite as the work continues. 19 Beach Road, Kaikoura | 03 319 5562 | info@thejoinershop.co.nz Wide range of Joinery Including Design, Build and Installation The Shop KITCHENS • INTERNAL DOORS • GARAGE DOORS • STAIRS • DESIGNER SHOWERS
