Design and build experts PBI Electrical brings design build expertise to Kaikoura Aquatic Centre Christchurch electrical contracting compa- ny PBI Electrical will be rolling out a com- plete package of design build electrical services for the Kaikoura Aquatic Centre project this summer, following connection of power and telecommunications to the site. That package includes all electrical fittings, along with fire alarms, access control, camera systems and mechanical ventila- tion services. “This is fairly standard for us – virtually all our contracts are design build,” says PBI Electrical owner Brendon Ivory, a fully qualified electrician who has been work- ing in the electrical sector for more than thirty three years. “Traditionally there would be electrical and mechanical engineers involved, but we do it all in house. We generally start with the architect’s brief and outline specification of what they want to achieve and then we do the rest from design to install.” PBI Electrical has been operating in New Zealand for the past 28 years and is a very experienced electrical contracting compa- ny based out of Christchurch. Brendon and his skilled team of electri- cians service most of the South Island. They specialise in design build projects, from sheds and bar fit outs to residential housing and commercial buildings. Other key services include warehouse lighting replacement and heatpump installation. The PBI team recently completed a large- scale project in Queenstown called The Alex Apartments, comprising of fifty two apartments and six shops. “This was a complete design build pack- age including heat pumps, fire alarm sys- tems, emergency lighting and everything else required for functionality.” PBI has also been working on several large projects within the Central Otago district including a new block of storage units and, in late 2020, was starting work on another large project, namely a cool store complex in Ettrick near Roxburgh. In Christchurch, the team has been hard at work on a new freight warehouse and a transport service company building.
