84 | Three Sixty Architecture T T to page 87 ARCHITECTURE Bold and beautiful home in Wanaka T T Kim Newth O ne of the stars of the 2020 Southern Architecture Awards is an elevated contemporary family home with sweeping views of Lake Wanaka that delivers superbly well on form, function and style. Cleverly combining stacked and overlapping box-like forms, the award winning home by Three Sixty Architecture is beautifully integrat - ed with the local environment. “We’re rapt to have received an accolade like this that showcases some of the work we’ve been involved in and love doing,” says Nick Wortelboer, lead designer for the award winning home at Wanaka’s West Meadows development. When the practice was approached by a family returning to New Zealand and looking for a suitable site to call home, West Meadows with its gorgeous lake views turned out to be just what they were looking for. Their design brief was for a modern home in sync with Wanaka’s natural and architectur - al landscape, showcasing lake and mountain views and allowing for easy living and enter - taining all year round. In order not to disrupt the spectacular views, the driveway was installed as far east as possible with garaging tucked away behind. The heart of this 400sqm home is a shel - tered central courtyard, around which the ground floor flows.
