Still in its early stages, it has already garnered strong support from the local community, says village manager Sonya Attfield. The positive response is evident with 26 villas in stage one already presold, and a swift progression to stage two, currently available and selling fast. “There hasn’t been a facility like this in the area and there is a great need for it,” she says. “A strong sense of community and well being is already forming at Aurum on Clutha.” The village currently boasts around 13 completed villas, with more under construction. The first residents moved in during June 2023, marking the beginning of a steady stream of completed villas at a rate of approximately two per month. The temporary facilities building, equipped with an outdoor spa, a small gym, a residents’ library, and a lounge, is a precursor to the permanent 800sqm facilities building expected in about two years. Sonya says Aurum on Clutha is not just about independent living; it’s a holistic vision for the golden years. Upon completion of all four stages, the village will feature a 40-bed hospital and a 20-bed dementia unit, addressing critical healthcare needs within the community. The eventual amenities planned for the village are extensive, ensuring residents have a multitude of options for leisure and social engagement. From a communal lounge and craft room to an indoor pool and spa, Aurum on Clutha is designed to cater to diverse interests. Aurum on Clutha’s prime location in Central Otago adds another layer of allure. Nestled near the Mata-Au (Clutha River) and the starting point of the Central Otago Rail Trail, residents can enjoy outdoor living amidst world-class vineyards, farmer’s markets, and expansive parks. Proximity to Wanaka and Queenstown makes it an ideal base for hosting visiting family. For the active residents, the Central Otago Rail Trail offers unparalleled cycling experiences throughout the year, with Aurum on Clutha conveniently situated at the trail’s starting point. Moreover, the region’s renowned vineyards and artisanal produce offer endless opportunities for exploration. • Central Otago • Queenstown Lakes PH: 0800 420 004 benchmarkconstruction.co.nz Your local experts for CIVIL PROJECTS
