86 | POOL INDUSTRY Mayfair Pools & Spas - Cromwell T T Bernadette Cooney A spectacular design and build An extraordinary Queenstown pool project complete with a five-metre infinity edge waterfall has won the Mayfair Pools - Pool of The Year for 2023 – a spectacular design and build from talented Cromwell pool builders and Mayfair agents, Pisa Pools Ltd. The 15-metre-long pool is an all immersive, sensory experience overlooking Lake Wakatipu on Kelvin Heights, designed as part of a new home build from Gary Todd Architecture and built by B.J Hill Builders. The cantilever pool which is 3.5 metres wide and 1.6 metres deep blends into the hillside home and its interlinking water feature starts at the front entrance with a calming mirror pond. Walking through the house, the pool blends into the landscape of the lake and the infinity edge waterfall feature creates a grotto effect beneath the pool on the lower level. Pisa Pools Cromwell operations manager Craig Boslem says the pool is certainly “next level” and was completed in stages over a three-year period from 2019 to 2021. “We’re stoked to be awarded Pool of the Year for 2023, particularly as its also the 50th anniversary of Mayfair Pools within New Zealand,” he says. “We’re mindful that the pool is surrounded by beautiful architecture and spectacular scenery, but the fact is, all Mayfair agents throughout New Zealand are making amazing pools that exceed customer’s expectations.” The stunning result provides a go with the flow lifestyle for its homeowners. Along with the Infinity edge waterfall, the 2023 Pool of the Year features an automatic pool cover, dual skimmers, solar heating and heat pump, effect sensor lighting and plant room with PLC controls for its electronic function. Coloured in Tasman green glitter the pool functions are controlled by the PLC board and pumphouse which recirculates the water back into the flow stream. “We managed all the pool plumbing and made the pump room operational so you can control functions such as waterfall re-circulation and water filtration at the press of a button. It’s pretty smart,” says Craig. Working closely with the architect and builder, Pisa Pools had three team members on site at various build stages including installing drains and pipework before the concrete pour and fibre glassing in-situ. “The greatest challenge was the logistics of getting materials on site; as it’s a hillside section with narrow pathway access. So fortunately, there was a crane in place we used to manoeuvre materials to the pool site,” he says. Pisa Pools have been designing and building beautiful pools for the commercial and residential markets in Central Otago for more than 30 years, since it was first established by Wes Fiebig in 1991. Today, his son Brandon is the company’s building ninja says Craig while he takes care of design, consents, and manages the build progress. “We’ll take care of it all,” says Craig, “We can construct a fibreglass swimming pool of any size, any shape and anywhere within Central Otago. Although, we’ve also completed pools in Twizel, Glenorchy and Dunedin too.” Pisa Pools Ltd can also renovate and reline existing swimming pools and provide pool valet services. Pool contracting services from start to finish from award winning pool builders that won’t throw in the towel on your dream pool project. “Spa pools too – we’ll supply and install quality Mayfair spas,” says Craig. “Give us a call or visit our shop and showroom at 17 Murray Terrace, Cromwell.” Talk to us today, the feature profile experts Phone: 03 983 5500 waterfordpress.co.nz PROFILE YOUR PROJECT...
