T T to page 100 BUILDING Winning contracts for two substantial landmark projects in Dunedin city is testament to the track record and considerable trust locally based company DBC Building Services has garnered in the construction industry. Late 2022 DBC Building Services was confirmed as the contractor to install HVAC, (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and medical gas systems on the new Dunedin hospital outpatients building. The company is also providing HVAC, along with above and below ground plumbing services for Dunedin’s new ACC building. The five story, 15,000 square metre hospital outpatients building is being constructed by main contractor Southbase Construction and is scheduled to be the first of two main buildings on the $1.47 billion project’s central city site with completion expected late 2025. DBC Building Services Dunedin commercial manager Greg Lynch says these contracts are substantial, but with more than100 Dunedin based employees, it can provide sufficient qualified personnel to support the contract during peak periods. “Throughout the project we will review labour resourcing and forward plan for peak times to identify what resources will be required. We will also review how these resources are allocated to ensure that sufficiently trained personnel are available to meet programme deadlines.” The knowledge of DBC’s more experienced long-term trades people is “phenomenal” and a tremendous asset to the company, while it is also strongly committed to training, Greg says.
