Sustainability is at the core of the project, and timber the core material. The project is built completely on piles and entirely from timber, including the floor system, with concrete footings only used for the perimeter poles. Robert says they were aiming for the smallest carbon footprint possible. “Every effort has been made to ensure this is one of the most ecologically conscious worker accommodations in the country.” His father is impressed. Kevin says the finished product is better than he imagined, and Kris agrees they were blown away with the result. “Robert has gone above and beyond, and the boys can really feel at home here and they appreciate that.” The summer 2024 RSE crew is returning home in May and have had a sneak peak at their new accommodation before moving in when they return in the spring.
