Located at Pleasant Point, south of Christchurch, ViBERi has been organically growing blackcurrants – a superfood rich in vitamins and antioxidants – and sharing them with their customers in the form of blackcurrant powder, freeze dried blackcurrants and chocolate coated blackcurrants for over 10 years. Loaded with health bene ts, blackcurrants have been known to support immune function, mental clarity and sport performance recovery, among other bene ts. Totalspan Timaru played a central role in the design and construction of ViBERi’s new 600-square-metre facility, which serves as a packing facility and coolstore for its expanding business. The project, delivered under an exceptionally tight timeframe, was essential to meeting the company's operational demands. The structure, boasting a 6-metre stud height and 15-metre span, features ve commercial roller doors and drive-through bays. As with all Totalspan buildings, it was constructed using locally manufactured, high-quality New Zealand Coloursteel, ensuring durability and longevity. Timing was a critical factor, with a rm deadline set for early December to coincide with the blackcurrant harvest. Once ViBERi’s owner, Tony Howey, con rmed the project in August, Totalspan Timaru was tasked with designing, securing consents, and completing the build—all within four months. “We worked to ViBERi’s brief from the start,” Totalspan Timaru Stuart Claridge says. “ViBERi was a fantastic customer to work with.” In addition to the compressed schedule, the team had to navigate a complex working environment. The construction took place on the functioning berry farm, requiring strict adherence to health and safety regulations and minimal disruption to daily operations. For ViBERi, this facility marks a pivotal moment in its business growth. Previously reliant on leased space, the company now has a purpose-built processing hub that aligns with its long-term goals. “The building was designed to bring ViBERi to the next level,” Claridge says. “Tony wanted a space he could own and operate from, securing the future of the business.” Totalspan Timaru’s success in delivering this project re ects the company’s core business philosophies. With a dedicated team of 10 staff, they pride themselves on customer focus, clear communication and high-quality workmanship. Totalspan’s use of Coloursteel, locally produced in its Christchurch factory, underscores their commitment to durability and local sourcing. This material provides a robust, weather-resistant solution suited to New Zealand’s diverse climate and weather conditions, ensuring that ViBERi’s new facility will serve the business for years to come. By delivering a project of this scale within such a strict timeframe, Totalspan Timaru has reinforced its reputation as New Zealand’s leading customised steel building experts. Whether it’s a garage, carport, workshop, shed, barn or commercial building, Totalspan Timaru is well placed to offer a quality, affordable solution. TOTALSPAN TIMARU DELIVERS
