Dragon Construction DEVELOPMENT Project a source of pride T T Kelly Deeks Celebrating the successful completion of another multi-unit housing project with the Mike Greer Group’s central city development on Ayr Street, Christchurch’s Dragon Construction is proud to provide a high-quality product where buyers can enjoy a stylish, comfortable, and convenient inner-city lifestyle. Dragon Construction built half of the homes in this large-scale, 24-townhouse development, just metres away from Hagley Park. With a selection of two- and three- bedroom options, with open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge, and perfectly designed for low-maintenance living, Ayr Street is a new community in the making. Dragon Construction has worked on many multi-unit projects during the past several years, and has a great team with a great process and understanding of how to deliver these successfully. Ayr Street, being three storeys high, brought another level of opportunity for the Dragon Construction team to showcase their craftsmanship and cultivate their expertise. “We were working with structural steel, which creates a lot of movement in these buildings, and being three levels, we had three floors to pour instead of just one,” says Dragon Construction owner Matt Lewis. “It’s demanding work that requires a high level of expertise. I worked closely on this project with Mike Greer project managers, and my own staff and subcontractors to deliver a great result within a pretty quick time frame.” Matt put a big team on this project, with up to 15 builders on-site at one time, and he says they worked extremely hard to make sure they met all of their deadlines and delivered a quality product at the end. “This is why we do what we do – to be able to stand back and see that final product and know that it’s good quality.” Dragon Construction has earned a good reputation in Canterbury’s construction industry since being established in 2017, and enjoyed a busy 2024 despite the industry’s downturn. Dragon Construction is now continuing on apace with a full schedule of residential projects throughout Christchurch for 2025, including more multi-unit developments, as well as architectural one-off homes, renovations, and extensions. Matt also owns Canterbury Home Maintenance, an existing business he took over five years ago. Canterbury Home Maintenance runs a separate team of maintenance contractors specialising in renovations and home improvements, hard and soft landscaping, and maintaining rental properties. “I like to keep busy,” Matt says.
