Advantage Build T T Hugh de Lacy “Our team is our greatest asset, and by fostering a culture of support and cooperation we ensure everyone involved in a project contributes to its success.” BUILDING New builds in the vigorous Central Otago construction market are keeping Wanaka firm Advantage Build busy and growing, with the outlook for this year being particularly promising. “Our success at Advantage Build is built on the strength of our relationships: from apprentices to wholesalers we unite in the shared purpose of delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients,” Advantage Build founder and owner Nevan Jeffries says. “Our collaborative approach ensures open communication and mutual respect across all levels of the construction process, and whether we’re working alongside suppliers, subcontractors or our valued clients, we believe that strong partnerships create exceptional results.” Nevan started out in the construction industry in the retail sector in Hastings before shifting to Wanaka in 2000 to take up an adult apprenticeship in carpentry, working on a wide range of residential and light commercial projects. He went out on his own in 2011 with the support of friend Patrick Fleming. The pair have had various other team members working with them, and today Nevan has six staff working on the tools. “Our team is our greatest asset, and by fostering a culture of support and cooperation we ensure everyone involved in a project contributes to its success,” Nevan says. Environmental stewardship is at the core of the Advantage Build approach, a commitment that is reflected in the company’s approach to every project. “Through accurate quantity surveying we carefully assess material needs to reduce excess and ensure resources are used efficiently. We understand that every choice we make impacts the planet, so being mindful of our processes, and collaborating with our team, clients and suppliers, we can achieve sustainable outcomes without compromising quality. “Our team embraces considered material usage, selecting sustainable options that align with our values and client expectations. Additionally, our conscientious recycling programme helps us manage waste responsibly across the entire build process. “Our goal is not only to create energy-efficient homes, but to limit the consumption of excess building supplies and ensure every project aligns with our sustainability values,” Nevan says. With skilled staff in high demand across the industry, Advantage Build has dedicated itself to nurturing individual talents and investing in the next generation of builders through apprenticeships, ongoing training and upskilling initiatives. “We believe in creating opportunities for our team to grow and develop – our investment in people is an investment in the future of the industry,” he says. Advantage Build has several residential projects underway and more in the pipeline, so Nevan sees its future as bright. “Demand for high-quality, environmentally responsible builds continues to grow, and as we shape the Wanaka landscape the company remains steadfast to its commitment to quality craftsmanship, strong relationships and environmental responsibility. This commitment is genuine and sincere,” Nevan says. “The quality of our work is the key to generating ongoing demand, and I invest a lot of time in listening to my clients and staff, and delivering on all their expectations without compromising on any of them,” he adds.
