Bang Bang Building T T Kelly Deeks BUILDING Specialising in bespoke new homes and renovations, Invercargill’s Bang Bang Building bangs out the best work time and again with a friendly and experienced team that works closely with clients to ensure an exciting, smooth-running, and stress-free project. Bang Bang Building owner Ché Henton has more than 25 years of building and construction experience, and has worked on a huge range of projects from installing letterboxes to working on multi-million-dollar apartment projects in Auckland. Setting up Bang Bang Building in 2011, his focus has been on quality over quantity ever since. “We have the best interests of our customers at heart,” he says. “We stand proudly behind our work, doing everything we can to see them satisfied with their finished product.” Ché had a major customer on board to help him get started, with Southern Cross Hospital recognising his reputation for quality and his commitment to providing a fair price. The hospital remains a client to this day, while the renovation space provides the Bang Bang Building team with a steady stream of opportunity to bring more than 35 years of combined experience, proper planning, and meticulous execution to practical and visually appealing upgrade projects. “Our services range from complete project management to building and installing custom designs, including kitchens, bathrooms, decks, and more. There’s not much we can’t do,” Ché says. He says renovations aren’t every builder’s cup of tea, but Bang Bang Building is always happy to take on the tricky jobs. “I like the challenge that comes with turning the old into new,” he says. “You can’t just rely on the fundamentals of the trade, you have to be able to get into that grey area to make things right. Keeping it black and white and sticking to the rules can make things stick out like a sore thumb on a renovation project.” A recent project saw Bang Bang Building adding a sizeable, two-storey extension to a single-storey home on Fox Street. As this was during the post-Covid material delays and shortages, Ché took the early decision for the Bang Bang Building team to make their own frames in order to keep the project moving along. “We’d had some delays that meant we had to pause projects because we couldn’t get materials, so by building our own frames we could avoid any delays and give our crew a good chance to do a framing exercise as well,” Ché says. “We all came out of that project with a bit more experience under our belts.” Tying the new into the old looked a bit different on this project, where the new extension was clad with modern metal providing a stark contrast to the weatherboard on the existing home. Excellent detailing and design by the local MAS Architecture allowed for a seamless and current result. Bang Bang Building is now looking to extend its expertise further into the bespoke new-build space, targeting complex architectural designs where the team’s attention to detail can really shine. 027 867 1926 allseasonsdecorating@outlook.com www.allseasonsdecorating.co.nz Your go-to for plumbing and drainlaying in Invercargill and Southland!
