Under the leadership of managing director Matt Roche, Russley Portables has grown significantly over the past four years, expanding both the size and versatility of its structures. Russley Portables specialises in manufacturing buildings up to 90sqm, ensuring cost efficiency while providing a full-service package. From securing building consents to managing site works and coordinating freight, the company takes care of the entire process, offering a seamless experience for clients. A major point of difference for Russley Portables is its use of EPS panel construction, a method that allows for the creation of larger and more structurally sound transportable buildings compared to traditional techniques. “With EPS panels, we can build transportables in a fast and efficient manner,” Matt says. “We also offer flexible options - our clients can bring in their own designs, and we’ll bring them to life.” “We use New Zealand-made, locally sourced products as much as possible,” says Matt. “Our EPS panels, windows, doors, and flooring systems are all made in Christchurch, and our kitchens are all custom-made in Christchurch. Even our freight company is based here, and we deliver across the South Island.” Russley Portables collaborates with highly respected structural engineering firm Eliot Sinclair to optimise design and ensure all buildings exceed compliance standards. This commitment to excellence has fueled impressive year-on-year growth, with Russley Portables nearly doubling in size annually. Much of the company’s business comes from word-of-mouth referrals and customers who have seen Russley Portable’s projects firsthand. With a portfolio including a wide range of both residential and commercial builds, such as a large office and amenities installation for OceanaGold in Central Otago and a sales office for the Bellgrove development in Rangiora, Russley Portables’ buildings cater to a variety of uses, from site offices and lunchrooms to granny flats, farm accommodations, and Airbnb rentals. “We take pride in our custom design-andbuild service,” Matt says. “One unique project was for a dog breeder who needed a 50sqm facility featuring built-in cages with hatches opening to the outside, and grooming stations. They came in with an idea, and we made it work.” While Russley Portables has gained a strong following for its EPS panel buildings, the company is also responding to demand for more traditional timber-framed structures. “Many customers love our designs but prefer classic construction materials and claddings. So we’ve now launched a new range that maintains our transportable and efficient build process but uses traditional methods.” Russley Portables is now completing its first show home for this new range and plans to welcome prospective buyers to explore its three Christchurch-based show homes soon.
