Clarke Machine Hire has been built on loyalty and trust. Good service, good machinery and an on time service have been the hallmarks of the company since its inception, says owner Paul Clarke. Clarke Machine Hire had its beginnings over 20 years ago as a one-man band. Paul, a diesel mechanic who has over 30 years industry experience, turned his passion for machinery into a thriving business. He started sister company P.L. Clarke Ltd, which sells good used low-houred Komatsu and Caterpillar equipment imported from Japan. P.L. Clarke specialises in the sales of bulldozers, excavators, wheeled loaders and all types of heavy plant and construction machinery. It supplies to customers ranging from main contractors in the construction industry to the trade markets worldwide. “We have many years of experience in shipping equipment throughout the world. Whatever our customers’ requirements we can take care of everything from door to door. We make buying from us a safe and hassle free process and can source speci ic equipment to suit customer needs.” It was so successful Clarke Machine Hire was started due to customer request and both companies now boast a who’s who of clients including Harliwich Holding, Fulton Hogan, Standard of service second to none Downers and Base Contracting. Based in Dunedin Clarke Machine Hire also has branches in Cromwell and Christchurch. Paul says that because his companies are privately owned, customers bene it from an extremely personal service. “We know our clients and we know their business and their needs. We pride ourselves in supplying a prompt, reliable and helpful service at all times and are con ident that the quality of our equipment and standard of service is second to none.” Paul says that o ering the latest equipment and technology is key and Clarke Machine Hire is constantly investing in its leet, which includes excavators, road rollers, dump trucks and bulldozers. In the last year Paul has introduced the latest Komatsu IMC machines with GPS. Paul is grateful to the support of long-term customers such as Harliwich Holding, which he has been assisting for over 20 years. The strength of the relationship can be seen in that when Clarke Machine Hire was involved in Wheels at Wanaka recently Harliwich Holding lent its support by helping to transport machines to the show. Paul says it’s symbolic of the high levels of trust and loyalty that exist between Clarke Machinery and P.L. Clarke and its valued customers.
