Investment has also been made in other aspects of technology and important aspects such as health and safety, estimating and project management are all stored in a cloud based system. All staff have smart phones and the com- pany is moving with the times and we are investigating the use of electronic hazard identification, environmental compliance and quality assurance. The trucks and key items of plant are on and real time electronic tracking systems and are regularly monitored and timesheets are correlated with this information to get accu- rate costings of jobs. Health and safety is another major focus, says Tony. All staff are trained in First aid and have competed the New Zealand Transport agen- cies and Civil Contractors of New Zealand ‘Construct Safe’ Training. The company is a member of Site Safe and is also being accredited Site Wise. Staff are also encouraged to participate in training with Intratrain and MITO and all have gained some NZQA Qualifications. Diversification is the current goal as several of the company’s main clientele such as rural subdivisions and the film industry were im- pacted by Covid-19. This has led Harliwich to look at increas- ing its utilities work.
