| 35 CONTRACTING Fulton Hogan Fulton Hogan was contracted by the Kaikoura District Council to renew, upgrade and replace the damaged Lyell Creek sewer running from Hawthorne Road to Mill Road. Safe roads, tidy views. www.spraymarks.co.nz Adding to the complexity, some of the properties in Kaikoura had been boarded up, others tenanted with the owners living abroad far and near and other properties demolished and replaced. “We had a stakeholder liaison officer as part of the project and she spent a large amount of time tracking down the property owners outlining what we needed to do and getting their verbal permission followed up by their sign-off on the proposed work in advance of completing the work. “The stakeholder agreements had to be done collaboratively between the homeowner, KDC and Fulton Hogan.” Despite the challenges, Fulton Hogan delivered a seamless project to KDC and John compliments the great Fulton Hogan staff and the many subcontractors involved including Drainman NZ and Tru-line Civil, for the pro- ject’s success. The project commenced March 2019 and ran through to June 2020 at a cost of around $7 million inclusive of Fulton Hogan’s work, and elements completed by Stantec and Aquatec. “The new network has a long lifespan and is providing resilience to the neighbourhood, and future flexibility for increased capacity,” John says.
