A snapshot of the company’s past projects says it all: suspended bridge maintenance work for the Department of Conservation, repairing earthquake damage to historic cobb 1863 building Acheron at Molesworth station and, most recently, a 700sqm plus architectur- ally designed home in Blenheim. “We can provide our customers with unri- valled experience and expertise in the trade. Our huge strength is the quality and diverse experience of our team, which includes three joiners and a roofer,” says company pricing consultant/project manager Bruce Baldwin. He points to a current project the company is working on as a case in point: six two bed- room houses for the Picton Health Trust. Rob Blick Building had previously completed maintenance work for the client and the re- lationship had been so successful that Picton Health Trust approached Rob Blick Building for assistance with this latest project. Located at 58 Waikawa Road in Picton, the project saw an existing old nursing home removed from the site and extensive site works before the project could commence. Bruce says the steepness and size of the site and its location near the sea has necessi- tated sound project management for things such as runoff and the number of people who could be on site at any one time. An existing sewer line through the property also needed to be upgraded, and a major retaining wall built. Rob Blick Building has delivered a design and build solution with an open book policy. Bruce says the client stipulated that the homes must be low maintenance so they are clad in Palliside. Due to the contour of the site a mix of foundation systems has been used including concrete pad, timber piles and some homes have a garage underneath. Rob Blick Building is approximately halfway through the project. Rob Blick started the company in 2004 with wife Correna. Rob has been a builder since completing his apprenticeship at the age of 20 and now has over 25 years’ experience in the trade. The company specialises in architectural new builds and renovations utilising the most eco-friendly materials. In 2012, Rob and Corre- na decided to grow the business and pur- chased a franchise to carry out pre-purchase property inspections.
