T to page 100 N ight ‘n Day Foodstores, the nationwide network of one-stop convenience stores, achieved 19th on the pres- tigious Deloitte Fast 50 index in 2019 , with revenue growth of 279%, as well as being sixth placed in the 2019 Masters of Growth, with 321% revenue growth. Night ‘n Day was also named a regional category winner for The Fastest Growing Retail or Consumer Products Business for Otago and Southland, as well as securing the Excellence in Retail category in the 2020 Westpac Otago Business Awards. General Manager, Matthew Lane, says the company’s Deloitte Fast 50 ranking recognis- es the collective, hard work it has taken to achieve consistent growth in the business. New Zealand’s first Night ‘n Day was opened on Regent Road in Dunedin in 1990; the com- pany has now grown to 53 outlets nationwide. Growth was initially organic and South Island-based until 2011, when the group took a leap of faith and partnered with Gull on 21 sites in the North Island - a collaboration which required the establishment of new stores quickly. These were originally Wool- worths Quickstop sites which were converted to Night ‘n Day. “The opportunity arose and it was a great way for us to grow exponentially; that was a way for us to get into the North Island. Now we are finding that the stronger we get the more potential franchisees come to us.”
