T T from page 106 Ryman Healthcare: Kevin Hickman Retirement Village LIFESTYLE “A neutral colour palette means people can add their own personality to the interior. Residences are also fully air-conditioned for year-round comfort. Landscaped gardens weave their way around the village offering a beautiful outlook for residents. And for communal activities the village centre is set to be just a short stroll away,” says Simon. Once the village centre opens, prospective residents will have access to a range of living options including assisted living in serviced apartments as well as rest home, hospital and specialist dementia care. “Community is central to the Ryman lifestyle and a range of amenities will be available to encourage togetherness, such as a café, bar and hair and beauty salon, and there are always plenty of activities and outings to get involved with,” says Simon. Regular activity is encouraged with a variety of options available both in and out of the village grounds, such as the bowling green, gym and spa and swimming pools, to the nearby woodland forest walk. There will even be a spectator platform to the racetrack next door. The village’s namesake, Kevin Hickman, was deeply committed to providing high quality healthcare in New Zealand. When he co-founded Ryman Healthcare 40 years ago, his vision was to create a company that provided care that was ‘good enough for Mum and Dad’, says Simon. In 2016 he was named an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his service to aged care. Throughout his career, Kevin demonstrated a passion for both business and sports. After retiring as Managing Director of Ryman in 2006, he focused on building his Matamata thoroughbred horse stud, Valachi Downs, with his wife Joanna. Simon says Kevin’s vision continues to shape Ryman Healthcare’s commitment to excellence in retirement living and aged care today. He says that as Ryman innovates and expands further, it remains dedicated to providing exceptional living experiences for seniors across New Zealand. 03 344 3545 pricing.christchurch@reofab.co.nz 83 Columbia Ave, Hornby, Christchurch Reinforcing steel, bar and mesh – South Island wide.
