Fraemohs Homes BUILDING Fraemohs Homes founder Monni Fraemohs would be proud to see how the passion project he started in 1968 lives on today. Monni drew on his Danish heritage and a background in engineering to create what would become Fraemohs Homes. Inspired by New Zealand’s natural environment and plentiful exotic timber, his vision was to create homes Kiwis would love. That vision endures today, embodied in thousands of beautiful Fraemohs homes – built both locally and internationally. More than five decades on, Fraemohs Homes still operates from the same Christchurch site and while Monni has moved on, the locally owned enterprise continues to honour his founding principles of excellence in design, upholding quality and helping their customers to love where they live. “Fraemohs Homes stands on a very strong foundation and we are proud to uphold Monni’s founding philosophy and values that we would describe today as sustainability and innovation,” says Amanda Van Der Kley, Fraemohs Homes’ Business Development Manager. Back in the 1960s, Monni found it hard to understand why so much New Zealand pine was being shipped out as logs or sold as pulp. He was ahead of his time in wanting to add value to this precious resource and found a way to do so by designing and building kitset homes out of solid timber. He also developed his business to be recognised as an employer of choice by offering staff attractive working conditions and generous benefits. While Monni was already nearing retirement age when he started what would become Fraemohs Homes, he was blessed with abundant energy and motivation to drive his vision forward. “He believed in working with nature and not wasting our raw timber resources. He recognised people’s interconnectedness with nature, a philosophy that continues to resonate with us through to the present day.” The first homes made by Monni were simple by today’s standards – more like cabins – but over time the designs evolved and became more sophisticated and more New Zealanders warmed to the idea of building their own homes. Fraemohs’ customers from those early days still recall with fondness the adventures they had building their own kitset home, together with friends and family. Fraemohs has always been about building homes, not just houses. Their solid timber construction is robust, creating homes that will stand the test of time. Fraemohs construction is backed by over 55 years of proven performance in New Zealand and a wealth of research. Their interlocking timber system was a top performer in both the Christchurch and Kaikoura earthquakes. Another key advantage of using natural solid timber is that it looks sensational while also being sustainable, locking up large amounts of C02 indefinitely. Fraemohs Homes continues to lead the market with timeless Scandinavian home design and build, offering a choice of traditional or modern options nationwide, including a range of kitset and transportable homes. Fraemohs uses premium quality materials, local expertise and experienced tradespeople to create their sustainable, solid homes. Their beautiful line-up of sustainable timber showhomes demonstrate Scandinavian design flair, built for modern New Zealand lifestyles. 33 West Coast Road • Yaldhurst P O Box 11-227 • Christchurch Phone (03) 342-6044 Fax (03) 342-5939 Email: sales@sbj.co.nz www.sockburnjoinery.co.nz Proud to Support Fraemohs Homes Phone Brent 021 285 5881 | neatandtidyfinishings@gmail.com Proud to be associated with Fraemohs Homes If you are looking for reliable qualified painters who take pride in their work, we are the decorators for you.
