88 | Honest dialogue key to success Pullin Property carries out a wide range of building work, from bathroom and kitchen projects to installing or renewing decks or new home projects. Pullin Property Development T T Kim Newth BUILDING Award winning Master Builders, Pullin Property Developments Ltd, takes a results-driven approach to every project. Based in Kaiapoi and working for clients across Christchurch and the wider Canterbury area, the small team of professional builders is dedicated to achieving high quality outcomes on every build or renovation. Wayne Pullin, who founded the company in 2012, has carved a reputation for being approachable and providing a personal touch that ensures projects go smoothly on site. As the head of the company, he personally oversees every project and sets a high standard for his team. Clear communication with the client is a top priority. “For me, having those honest conversations is just so important. If something can’t be done, we let the client know straight away and we always aim to give our clients ‘the best bang for bucks’ by providing cost effective, quality solutions. “I have put my face forward on this business and that means I take ownership of what we do and am open and honest with all our clients.” Complementing his more than 20-years’ building experience, Wayne is trade certified in furniture making and antique restoration (having started out as an apprentice furniture maker in Christchurch with DJ Morrison in the late 1980s). He also has four years’ farming under his belt, achieving Primary ITO Level 4 certification in that time. Wayne’s skillset is impressive, as is his ethos around embracing new challenges. Wayne originally launched Pullin Property Development, after having become disillusioned with standards in the building sector at that time. “I thought that rather than tidying up someone else’s mess, I’d be better off going out on my own.” Having lived all his life in Canterbury, Wayne has an excellent understanding of local council rules and requirements and aims to keep it local as much as possible, working alongside local subtrades and suppliers. “I also have a fair bit to do with the local sporting community – rugby, softball and cricket. I’m in touch with local clubs and am often down at the golf course too.” Pullin Property’s two apprentices are both from the Waimakariri District. One came to Wayne through a local rugby club, while the other was a family friend. Both are doing well and recently completed site safety and first aid training. “It’s good to give back and to be helping the next generation coming through, including teaching those essential health and safety skills.” Rounding out the team is another qualified tradesman, who helps run projects with Wayne. Pullin Property carries out a wide range of building work, from bathroom and kitchen projects to installing or renewing decks or new home projects. With attention to detail always front of mind, they are wellequipped for renovations of all kinds. “We are just starting the renovation of an older home in St Albans at the moment. On projects such as these, you need a good understanding of old timber and how to select materials that will match it, for example, if there are rotten boards that need replacing.” Pullin Property won a Canterbury regional gold award in the Master Builders House of the Year competition in 2019 for a unique, one-off rebuild of a modern Christchurch home. Whether it’s a housing company home or a small renovation, Wayne says he and his team treat each and every project with the same level of care and dedication. Recent work includes a multi-level deck with stairs for a Christchurch home (Mount Pleasant). “People are looking to add value to what they already have so we’re doing a lot of maintenance and repair work at the moment. Things are still quite tight now but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the property market pick up once again by September or so.” KAIAPOI KAIAPOI'S LOCAL BUILDING SUPPLY STORE Right products, right advice.
