T T Russell Fredric Trident Homes Queenstown’s new franchisee Isaac Wilson brings a wealth of practical experience to the business. Although it has been a steep learning curve since taking it over last October, having experienced staff combined with Trident’s excellent systems has been a huge asset, Isaac says. Isaac and his wife Megan bought the franchise from Adam and Jackie Blackadder who had owned it for six years. “Adam and Jackie did a good job of establishing the franchise and building it to where it was until I took over,” Isaac says. Jackie still works in the business as an administrator, and her knowledge has been absolutely invaluable with the transition as well as with aspects of its day-to-day running, Isaac says. The franchise employs eight staff covering administration, sales and contract management roles. Isaac has been a builder since 2007 and moved to Queenstown from Southland in 2017, eventually contracting to Trident Homes Queenstown before the opportunity arose to purchase it. “The majority of our work as a contractor was for Trident Homes.” Many homes in recent years have been built in the Hanleys Farm subdivision which is where Trident Homes Queenstown’s showhome is currently located. Hanleys Farm is just seven minutes drive from Frankton which offers a vast array of retail and hospitality options as well as the airport, and is 15 minutes to central Queenstown. Nestled under the Remarkables mountain range, Hanley’s Farm offers good amenities and is focussed on easy family living. A master-planned development with a semi-rural feel, it includes a cafe, a park, pump track and a daycare located at its entrance, plus easy access to walk/cycleways. Trident’s showhome in 39 Jack Hanley Drive is a bespoke build with many refreshing design features both inside and out and includes a self-contained unit. “Our show home and income [unit]covers the basics for what so many Queenstowners are looking for,” Isaac says. “It’s a really practical three bedroom home. It’s a well thought out, well laid out house, everything works really well.” The main home provides three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, a separate living area, an open plan kitchen and scullery and a two car garage. The spacious 47 square metre unit has one bedroom with a walk in wardrobe, a modern, spacious kitchen and ample storage. The exterior is clad in grooved Stria which is ideal for the Central Otago climatic extremes, with complementary plaster and a touch of cedar creating variety in the look and texture. Design brilliance abounds inside where again the variety of materials delights the eye. The kitchen includes wood veneer, tiles, tasteful green cabinetry for a colour accent against the otherwise light neutral tones, with ample ambient light provided by a large skylight. These colour and material concepts are repeated throughout, including in the income unit. “It gives people viewing it an idea of what they can do if they want to do something different.” The interior design was created by one of Trident Homes Queenstown’s staff, Michelle Melvin. “She has done an amazing job and we get a lot of feedback about it. It is really well done.” Priced at $900,000, the home is being offered for what is comparably a very reasonable price point both in Hanleys Farm and the Wakatipu basin more generally.
