Summerset is well-known for putting their residents at the heart of everything and that’s evident in the refined design-and-build standard in this well-planned village. With roads, paving and services complete, the first four villas are now under construction ahead of a busy year of home building. In all, 260 independent homes are planned for the village, along with a well-appointed 5000sqm community hub and care facility. A friendly sales team is based on-site to take people through the range of lifestyle options, from spacious villas to cosy cottages and serviced apartments. With the sales office now open, enquiries are welcome any time. Located at 141 South Belt, Rangiora, the village is just minutes away from the town centre and local amenities. A handy bus stop on South Belt connects the village with central Rangiora and Christchurch. The semi-rural setting is quiet and tranquil. A new three-bedroom show home, situated by the landscaped entrance to the village, highlights the quality of modern, spacious living that’s available for future residents. It features a contemporary kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, and a sunny outdoor area for relaxed living and entertaining. “We are thrilled to present this new villa, which shows the high-quality standard we are offering here,” says Joe Roberts, Summerset Group construction manager. “At Summerset, we’re constantly listening to our residents and seeking out improvement. We’ve further refined the design palette to create a lovely modern look and feel for our Rangiora villas. As well as attractive brick facades, we’re using contemporary cladding systems.” Summerset has four villages catering to the Christchurch market – Avonhead, Casebrook, Wigram and Prebbleton – but this is their first north of the city. It is a significant milestone for the North Canterbury region. “There is a lot of inquiry and excitement about our new village, from retired local farmers as well as Rangiora residents who want to retire locally and don’t want to move away. The high level of interest we’re seeing reflects a gap in the market and speaks volumes about our nationwide reputation,” Joe says. The social hub of this new village in its first phase will be a temporary marquee/recreation centre. Due to open in mid-2026, it will provide a welcoming meet and greet space and an uplifting venue for social get-togethers. “It will have full kitchen facilities and recreational options including pool table, TV and library.” As the village develops, the marquee will be superseded by the new main village centre boasting resort-style amenities, including a pool, gym, theatre, bar and café, hair salon and more, surrounded by recreational areas for pétanque, croquet and pickleball. “The village main centre will have the same facilities as our other villages, but we’ve further refined the layout and look based on feedback from our residents. We think it’s a wonderful design that will work really well.” For residents requiring extra support, Summerset Rangiora’s care centre, once complete and certified, will provide different levels of support and care to meet changing needs, including hospital-level care and dementia-care options. From the time the first Summerset village opened in Whanganui in 1997, the vision has been the same: to provide retirement villages that any family would be proud of, with respect for residents underpinning that vision. It remains the guiding ethos today. Some 21 villas are on track for handover at Summerset Rangiora by Christmas. By then, this vibrant new village will already have its first residents settling in and enjoying their new community.
