This exciting project achieved the rare feat of being completed weeks ahead of schedule and significantly under budget. The new facilities – a 6020sqm warehouse and 335sqm office with breezeway and paved concrete surrounds in Waterloo Business Park, Christchurch – are operating as a cutting-edge, southern operational hub for Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) NZ, with flow-on benefits for businesses across New Zealand. Working alongside Walker Architecture, the project developer Classic Group and SCS (as the future tenant), Cohesive Construction and their team of trusted subcontractors once again proved their reputation for best practice communication, collaboration and coordination. It is noteworthy that not only did the work stay on schedule, but virtually all defects were closed out before practical completion was issued. “We are proud of our part in this flagship project that has delivered a large functional warehouse facility along with a modern office,” says Shaun Boldock, general manager at Cohesive Construction. “On every project, we closely track construction progress and monitor commercial decisions using Procore construction management software that also allows us to integrate our quality and health and safety app-based systems. “The result is a very streamlined process, from the start through to practical completion and compliance.” Another recent landmark project for Cohesive Construction involved the design and build of a 1700sqm cool storage distribution centre and offices in Hornby for CoolTranz. This exceptional custom facility was carefully built in stages, enabling CoolTranz to continue operating with minimal disruption. Final project completion (including a new fuel depot) was reached in October 2024. With in-house design and construction teams, trade contractors, project managers and stakeholders all working seamlessly together, this was another efficient delivery for Cohesive Construction. “It was an absolute privilege to work with the leadership team at CoolTranz on this project – their commitment to excellence paved the way to an exceptional outcome. Their new facilities are in the top tier of industrial workplaces, on a par with the best you’d find anywhere,” Shaun says. Cohesive Construction Nelson has also been making an impact in recent months. An ongoing Auto Wash collaboration is helping keep cars sparkly clean. Last year saw the launch of Blenheim’s new Auto Self Serve, equipped with the latest cleaning technology to deliver a perfect, spot-free finish. It was Cohesive’s fourth successful collaboration with Tunnel Wash Group. Another new Tunnel Wash is currently underway in Ravenswood (North Canterbury). In Otago, the Cohesive team recently completed state-of-the-art warehouse facilities for Vulcan Steel that will serve as a distribution hub for years to come, while a notable project for the Central Otago team involved a partnership with Melanie Craig Interior Architecture and Joinery Crew to design and build a beautiful collaborative workspace tailored to their needs. Cohesive Construcion’s business journey began in 2010, when the Lynch family saw a need for quality steel-frame sheds in Canterbury, leading to the purchase of Wide Span Sheds’ South Island franchises. Cohesive has since grown and expanded into a commercial, industrial and agribusiness construction specialist, operating out of Christchurch and throughout New Zealand. “We provide full turnkey construction services and deliver exceptional results for our clients, across a wide range of project requirements,” says Shaun. Cohesive Group continues to build on its excellent track record, and currently has upcoming projects across the South Island ranging in value from $800,000 to $18 million.
