Woolbrae – part of the wider Kaha Ake initiative, which aims to deliver 2,000 homes to the New Zealand market, spread over four communities - is a 14.5-hectare housing project that promises to bring much-needed housing stock to the Queenstown region, an area that is facing an acute shortage of residential sections. Woolbrae will feature 271 new homes, delivered as house and land packages: mostly three-bedroom, two-bathroom homes on 400-square-metre sections. The development is part of Kaha Ake’s broader vision to deliver 2,000 homes across four communities in New Zealand, with an emphasis on quality design, affordability and long-term community value. Located adjacent to Hanley’s Farm and Jack’s Point, Woolbrae is strategically positioned to take full advantage of nearby amenities while offering residents stunning alpine surroundings and strong transport connectivity. Just a 20-minute drive from Queenstown town centre, Woolbrae is also a short 11-minute drive to Queenstown Airport and only a three-minute walk from Te Kura Whakatipu o Kawarau, a new primary school in Hanley’s Farm. Integrated pedestrian paths and public transport links will connect Woolbrae directly to its neighbouring communities, making every day travel easy and efficient. Residents will also benefit from its proximity to the growing Jack’s Point Village, a vibrant new hub that will include restaurants, shops and recreational facilities. The development is being delivered in collaboration with the Queenstown Trails Trust, ensuring residents have direct access to Queenstown’s renowned cycle trail network to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle. Construction of Woolbrae is progressing steadily, with earthworks nearly complete and civil works currently underway. Home construction is scheduled to begin in August 2025. Developments owned by Kaha Ake, a platform formed in partnership with the NZ Super Fund and the Classic Group, come with strict design guidelines, aimed at preserving architectural integrity, protecting property values and ensuring that communities like Woolbrae become a cohesive and attractive place to live. Classic Group Director Peter Cooney says the Woolbrae development intends to bring a bit of affordability back to the Queenstown region, which is notoriously pricey, with house and land packages available for under $900,000. “For the Kaha Ake platform, this is an exciting development which we are very proud of and has been embraced by the Queenstown District Council, leading to a modern vibrant community allowing the growth of Queenstown to prosper for the next decade,” Peter Cooney said. With its focus on quality housing, connectivity and community, Woolbrae represents a bold step forward in Queenstown’s urban development — providing a pathway to home ownership in one of New Zealand’s most sought-after locations. Operating for over 20 years in the Southern Lakes region, Civil Construction is known for its innovative and sustainable solutions for local construction problems. For this development, Civil Construction (CCL) utilised a ground stabilisation technique not seen in the South Island before to mitigate risk of liquefaction. By stabilising the ground on site rather than exporting unsuitable and importing suitable materials, CCL reduced the Earthworks related road truck movements by 50%, saving approx. 2400 truck movements in 12 months. This contributed to positive change to environmental, social, and economic aspects of the region - a sustainable objective Civil Construction strives to attain in all its projects. 0800 0800 04 | office@civilconstruction.co.nz | www.civilconstruction.co.nz | 145 Frankton-Ladies Miles Highway, Frankton, Queenstown 9300
