Posts are available in structural grades PL8 and PL12, in visual grade with H5 treatment while beams are available in structural grades are PL8, PL12 and the PLX20. Visual grade is available in H3.2 treatment, whereas non-visual grade is available in H1.2 or H3.2 treatment. Structural grading is a method to ascertain the strength of the timber, whereas visual grading is based on the appearance, including the number of knots and defects.
