| 85 DESIGN Melanie Craig Design The establishment of Joinery Crew has brought six new staff to the team. Built by Cohesive Construction and designed by them in conjunction with Melanie Craig Design, the new workshop provides a comfortable and inspiring working environment with plenty of natural light throughout. Joinery Crew has invested heavily in modern German joinery technology and is the only joiner in the region to be offering the precision of the latest laser edge banding machinery. Instead of a grey, cold, and boring space, the workshop has been painted with forest green, tangerine, and mustard colours for a bright and happy space. Surfaces have been provided to house multiple indoor plants to further enhance and improve wellness in the working environment, and beautiful feature pendant lighting is on display throughout. As well as the workshop, Melanie Craig Design also has a new showroom and design suite inside the new building. Entry is into the showroom with a full kitchen, furniture, and other products on display. Up the stairs and through a ‘wallpaper wilderness’ takes you to the big co-lab bench, where clients become part of the Melanie Craig Design team, and plans start to roll out. The adjoining workshop means the design team can now test and trial their ideas with ease. The establishment of Joinery Crew has brought six new staff to the team, which is now up to 17. Mel says because of working in Wānaka in the Lakes District, the team is a multicultural one, making it both interesting and advantageous for each team member and the business. “Amongst our team, we’ve got experiences of different cultures which has been fantastic,” she says. “Everyone gets trained slightly differently in different countries, so being able to get all of that knowledge under one roof has been a real eye-opener for all of us.” Your property can be exactly as you dreamed it, we offer the opportunity to explore your imagination and produce a timeless, sophisticated environment.
