| 97 COMMUNITY Habitat for Humanity Habitat Nelson proactively looks for ways to continue expanding affordable housing options in Nelson Tasman. Projects in the pipeline include: • Three new three-bed, single-level houses built by NMIT/Te Pūkenga students for Habitat are awaiting final consent before going to a leased site in Wakefield, (being leased at a lower than market rate). Progressive Home Ownership on the houses will be offered to local families. • An 18-unit development in Nelson to provide affordable rental accommodation, comprising six one-bedroom, six two-bedroom and six three-bedroom homes in partnership with Unite Church. This development is subject to securing support from the Government’s Affordable Housing Fund. If successful, the goal would be to start construction in 2024.
