124 | Manor Property Services (MPS), a one-stop-shop property maintenance provider. PROPERTY Manor Property Services T T Alexia Anderson A chat over a beer is a conversation Andy Dumville and Mark Forbes are pleased they had. It was a conversation that led them to establish Manor Property Services (MPS), a one-stop-shop property maintenance provider, offering a diverse range of services and expertise across Nelson-Tasman. It was July 2010 when they identified a gap in the Nelson market for a business specialising in multiple trades. Mark recalls how quickly that need was confirmed after they were chased along a street while distributing flyers, by a stressed landlord desperately seeking their help. The landlord required garden work, interior and exterior cleaning, painting, and various repairs made to his Nelson rental. “When he paid his considerable invoice within seven days we knew we were on to a good thing and proceeded to purchase our first trailer.” Fast forward 14 years, MPS now employs 50 staff and has 20 vehicles on the road around the Nelson-Tasman region, providing a wide range of commercial and domestic property- maintenance support. Their services include painting and decorating, building and construction, kitchen design and manufacture, cleaning, water-blasting, grounds maintenance, arborist tree work, asbestos removal and roof cleaning. MPS also collaborates with its client base to provide services to the wider community. Mark says one of the main building blocks to the business was laid in early 2012, after it became a third-party contractor providing maintenance services to Kainga Ora properties, ensuring they remain tidy and presentable. This work has required MPS staff to navigate the unique challenges of maintaining social housing, from managing repairs to addressing ongoing tenant needs. Another of their clients is Vetlife Group, which has called on MPS to help renovate and upgrade veterinary clinics in Richmond, Motueka, and Mapua. In Richmond, Vetlife required assistance to convert an old building shaped like a castle into a functional veterinary clinic, blending practical design with a unique architectural aesthetic. MPS has also been instrumental in supporting Nelson’s ageing population by providing essential services to several retirement villages. Their painting and cleaning teams help maintain these facilities, ensuring a high standard of living for the region’s elderly residents. The company takes pride in supporting local businesses and suppliers, fostering strong relationships with the organisations that, in turn, support MPS. Mark says MPS also prides itself on its professionalism and customer service.“Our team is very proud of the services they provide and we regularly receive feedback from our customers of staff going the extra mile.” He says, like most people in business today, to achieve growth and success over the years has meant taking risks when opportunities arise. The company has also added to its services along the way, while ensuring the team are experts in their field, creating a one-stopshop for those who need assistance. “Case in point is the recent addition of Elevate-X, a small local building company to add to our carpentry team, putting MPS in a good position to take advantage of the next growth period in the industry.” As MPS looks to the future, Andy and Mark remain committed to growing the business while continuing to meet the evolving needs of the Nelson-Tasman community. “When he paid his considerable invoice within seven days we knew we were on to a good thing and proceeded to purchase our first trailer.” Filling a gap in the Nelson market Manor Property Services Nelson 03 548 2369 www.rwcanelson.co.nz Proud to support Manor Property Services Limited
