Established in 2016 by Donald Stewart, who has over two decades of engineering experience, the company has grown into a leading provider of structural steel and general fabrication services for diverse projects requiring quality customised solutions. From its Leeston-based workshop, Stewart Engineering’s six-person team of experienced welders, fabricators and engineers offers a full design, fabricate and erecting service on projects of any scale. “Whether the project is residential structural steel and fabrication, including stairs and balustrades, or whether it’s a 70-tonne structural steel for a commercial job, we get it done efficiently, to budget, and within our set time frame. Our ability to take care of all your engineering needs in-house means that we can provide a consistently high level of efficiency and quality,” says Donald. “We blast and paint in-house as well.” Stewart Engineering has a rich history of successful projects completed during the eight years it has been operating. They include the fabrication and installation of the Te Pae Convention Centre façade in Christchurch, and most recently, a 40-tonne steel fabrication project for Auckland Meat Processors, fabricating and installing a lamb carcass tunnel. Showcasing the engineering company’s capabilities in managing large-scale steel fabrication and installation tasks is the sizable industrial job Stewart Engineering tackled last year for Turners and Growers, Napier. “This was a significant milestone,” says Donald, “a 70-tonne steel portal make and install for an office amenity building.” The company has increasingly taken on residential work, providing structural steel and custom fabrication for architectural homes. A recent highlight was their structural steel project for an architectural house on a hill in Clifton, Sumner. The team supplied and installed all the structural steel for this residential build, including the fabrication of a custom staircase. “We’re experienced with structural and portal steel for high-end residential projects, and we provide design support, working closely with trusted drafting partners like Piper Technical Consulting and Helix Design to deliver seamless co-ordination of tailored solutions for every project.” Whether it is earthquake re-strengthening, steel fabrication for commercial warehouses, or custom projects for residential homes, Stewart Engineering approaches each job with the same level of dedication and precision. The company has taken on diverse fabrication projects, including fabricating a bin rotator for Oakley’s Premium Fresh Vegetables, and installing a steel canopy for a whiskey bar on Christchurch’s ‘The Terrace’, and building custom equipment for local farmers. “We’ve fabricated and erected a variety of structures, including new homes, warehouse and offices, winery sheds, hay sheds, manufacturing plant, profile-cut fences and features, you name it,” says Donald. Whether for residential new builds, commercial developments or rural buildings, Stewart Engineering of Leeston is a leading provider of quality engineering and fabrication solutions and a dependable engineering partner on construction projects throughout the country.
