Completing the floor plan is the cleverly concealed triple-car garage incorporating functional storage and a full-scale laundry. With so many worthy designs entered into this year’s awards Ash says the design team were humbled by their success. “It means a lot that we were successful. I think the judges were impressed with the unique response to the unusual site shape, and how we achieved a very good feel within a lovely space. “There are occasions when architecture can be thankless, but there is something really special when the client calls you up and says come to site, look at this, it looks awesome. “Everyone involved in the development of the house was onboard with a shared vision and were able to execute it very well, which doesn’t always happen. It’s a really nice part of the project when you can look back and see the respect and care that everyone put into the project, beyond the initial ideas. We would like to thank all the trades that were part of the vision and made it happen.” Hierarchy Group’s design was brought to life by R&B Builders, who brought with them the experience and craftmanship needed to transform design to reality. Founded in 2003 by Chris Wheeler, and initially specialising in fit-out design for the retail and hospitality sectors throughout Australasia, Hierarchy Group has progressively diversified into a broader range of projects, with fit-outs now only representing 25% of its work. With branches in Christchurch and Auckland, Hierarchy Group operates throughout New Zealand, undertaking commercial and residential projects, along with central government projects including for Kāinga Ora, Department of Corrections and the Ministry of Education. “We have a team of just over 50, split between Christchurch and Auckland, with a mix of architects, architectural designers, interior designers, quantity surveyors and project managers for our fit-out work,” says Chris. “Our sister company, Inovo, provides project management services for larger projects. Providing an agile service and applying the street smarts learned from the early days of the business have been the company’s bedrock. “We have always tried to partner with the client and taking the challenge or problem away from them. We also invest into our people and I have surrounded myself with very talented and loyal people, whose careers have grown as the company has grown.” VISIT OUR SHOWROOM ryanskitchens.co.nz 9 Kilronan Place, Wigram, Christchurch 03 3487921
