| 9 Majestic Church DEVELOPMENT The Majestic Church has developed an old industrial site in the Christchurch CBD as its new church and community hub. C Lund & Son Ltd has been producing high quality concrete work for over 60 years in Canterbury, providing value to our clients and con idence to designers. We now have the capability to produce high quality Architectural concrete components including GRC cladding panels, a natural progression building on our many years of high-quality concrete construction. GLASS REINFORCED CONCRETE (GRC) GRC or Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (also known as GRFC) is a high-performance cement and glass- ibre matrix. It is typically sprayed or poured into a mould using a pre-mix of all of the constituent materials. The skin has similar density to concrete, however, can be cast as thin as 12mm. GRC used for Architectural Features GRC allows designers far more lexibility that any other material to incorporate large Skill & Experience from C Lund & Son reliefs, colours, and textures into their design. The ability of the material to follow the shape of a mould at a constant thickness means that forms can be created without signi icant increase in weight. Majestic Church Development Majestic Church chose GRC for their feature wall because of the advantage of lexibility in design and resilience that GRC o ers. The team at C Lund & Son had the skills and experience to undertake the challenging design with their skilled in-house technical team and experienced production team. They were engaged as a specialist GRC subcontractor to Calder Stewart. With C Lund & Son’s skill and experience and through careful planning and coordination between C Lund & Son and Sheppard & Rout, Holmes Consulting Group, Structex and Calder Stewart, installation on site went smoothly, and the completed façade is now a stunning landmark on Durham Street.
