Established in 2015 by brothers Greg and Mark Fahey, the catalyst for Bison was a container scale and app the Fahey brothers developed to help shippers adapt to the International Maritime Organisation’s new container weight verification rules. Today the company offers a range of unique container lifting and weighing hardware and software solutions and exports globally to customers in over 60 countries from its Dunedin manufacturing facility and headquarters. “Our mission is clear, and with strong values and a culture of quality and innovation, the team at Bison aims to take container logistics to new frontiers. “Our customers value Bison equipment for its portability, lift capacity, and cost – a fraction of the cost of traditional container lifting and weight equipment,” says Greg. Bison focuses strongly on meeting customers’ needs and a good example is its recent move into systems that help cater to demand from companies wanting to lift and shift other large items. “A perfect example is modular buildings,” says Greg. “Companies need to lift them in their factories and move them to sites. “We are currently adapting our container handling products and working with customers to come up solutions for other modular structures. We already have some units on the ground in Australia and other orders we are working on.” Another innovation is in the mobility market where Bison is developing equipment capable of moving containers and modular structures around in places where cranes and other equipment are not viable. Greg says Bison will be releasing some new mobility solutions in early 2024. More than 95% of products are destined for the export market with more than half of these heading to North America. Bison counts amongst its clients the likes of Siemens, Caterpillar, Saab, Lockheed Martin, NASA, NATO and the US Army. With its headquarters and manufacturing in Dunedin, Bison has sales offices in Europe and USA, and a dedicated network of sales and service partners dotted around the globe. “We rely on and value the support of many suppliers across the southern region of New Zealand who provide components, steel machining, cutting, fabrication, coatings and a host of other services. “We are pleased to be bringing this sort of export driven business into the region and also creating jobs.” Despite its success Greg Fahey says many locals will not be aware of Bison or what it does but it is currently looking to add to its team of 22 with roles including a customer success manager and additional sales positions in the New Year. “We’re continuing to grow and hire. Now we’re out there in the market engaging with customers globally every day it’s a great way to discover new opportunities. “We’re seeing real growth in the renewable energy, military and defence sectors and those are just some of the areas that Bison Jacks is focusing on.” “Our customers value Bison equipment for its portability, lift capacity, and cost – a fraction of the cost of traditional container lifting and weight equipment.” 2 Ashford Ave, Business Estate, Ashburton 7772 | PO Box 565, Ashburton 7740 CONTACT US ON: 03 307 6633 | sales@precisioncutting.co.nz | precisioncutting.co.nz • High Definition • Plasma Cutting • Profile Cutting • Break Pressing • Drilling and Tapping • Plate Sales • Bevel Cutting • Laser Cutting Electronics: design • firmware software • manufacturing +64 3 481 1884 info@kamahi.com | kamahi.com WHAT’S INSIDE DEVICES?
